Part 1: The Eye of John
You’ve heard of „Alecto is a Resurrection Beast“, „Alecto is Gaia“ and „Alecto is a seamonster“, you’ve heard of John’s sun symbolism, now get ready for:
John is Ra and Alecto is Mehet-Weret
or less specifically Hathor, or The Eye of Ra

[Image description: A picture in the Ancient Egyptian style. It shows a large blue cow with stars along its belly. There are nine people under it, keeping it steady. An empty boat floats by its back legs, and another boat by its front legs, this one with the god Ra as a passenger. A large red arrow points at the cow and is labelled “Alecto???”.]
(More under the cut, because this shit will get long.)
Part 2: The Great Ennead, the Journey of John, and the Eye of Harrow
Finally got around to editing this! I’m afraid this part is just as long as first one. I did my best, y’all. But I cut it into four sub-parts to make it somewhat more readable:
- The Book of the Heavenly Cow - The Empire
- The Journey of Ra - The Mithraeum
- The Great Ennead of Heliopolis - The Lyctors and the Resurrection
- The Osiris Myth - Griddlehark
General disclaimer: I still don’t really know what I’m talking about, and I’m reducing some things because otherwise these posts would never stop and also it’s probably not important in this specific context.
Part 3: TL,DR and a few more thoughts
TL,DR
Pretty much all the events and people surrounding John can be mapped onto ancient Egyptian mythology. In short, it makes John Re-Atum, Alecto both the primordial flood and the „Eye of Ra“ (mostly known as Sakhmet or Hathor), and the OG Lyctors the „Great Ennead“. Harrow and/or Gideon take the role of Horus.
The events leading up to the Resurrection can be compared to the Myth of the Heavenly Cow, also the known as “The Destruction of Mankind”; the Resurrection itself to the Helipolitan creation myth; the battle at the end of GtN with the fight between Horus and Seth, and John and the Lyctors on the Mithraeum with the Journey of Ra.
